So use Vectorizing for converting picture or images (Jpg, Png, Tiff files etc.) into cuttable artwork, and Contour Cutting for printing pictures and images in full color and then cutting around the edge of those pictures and images. Vectorizing (tracing or digitizing) creates a vector path (curve) around each color of the artwork (picture or image) whereas Contour Cutting places an outline around all of the artwork. After the artwork has been printed the media is loaded into a vinyl cutter which can either automatically scan the special Registration Marks (for ARMS and CCD cutters) or manually locate each mark (for laser-pointer cutters) which then cuts the outline to produce decals (stickers).¹ What’s the difference between Contour Cutting and Vectorizing? The Object(s) are printed onto the media but the outline is not printed.
